The EMC Academic Alliance is
an initiative by EMC to work with the leading educational institutions around
the world to address the emerging knowledge gap in storage

About EMC CORPORATION
EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) is the
world leader in products, services, and solutions for information storage and management.
We are the only company in the world 100-per cent dedicated to automated
networked storage. Our solutions and services help organizations of all sizes
across the globe to better and more cost-effectively manage, protect, and share
their information. We are the 9th biggest product based IT and 6th
biggest software company in the world.
Academic
institutions face the challenge of providing students with technical skills and
knowledge that is current and needed in the IT industry. The storage
segment of the IT industry is growing exponentially, without the supporting
qualified pool of applicants to realize full optimization and integrated
environments.
Currently, storage education is
available from the various storage vendors to their employees and customers,
however the education is typically product focused. Very few academic
institutions are addressing the need to include storage education in their
curriculum. Yet, with storage becoming an increasingly strategic asset in the
corporate ranks, many businesses would encourage academia to provide this
training. Without the needed education, a skills gap exists, particularly for
new entrants into the Information Technology industry. Existing IT
professionals are also impacted as they try to stay current with the industry.
As a leader in the storage market, EMC
recognizes this challenge and the opportunity to solve this problem. We’ve
engaged industry analysts, customers, and partners to research this topic. It
became obvious that part of the challenge is the lack of storage education in
the academic world. Implementing such education is an ideal solution to fill
the gap.
To meet this need, EMC Academic Alliance (EAA) Program was developed to support and
enable academic institutions to deliver storage technology education to
students enrolled in technology degree programs.
